Position: Traveling Project Manager / Estimator - Mission Critical

Project Manager/Estimator

Responsible for bidding and securing construction projects, and managing full‑cycle project execution from contract award through completion.

Responsibilities
  • Source, develop, and submit bids through client relationships, networking, public/private postings, and assigned opportunities.
  • Estimate project quantities, gather equipment and material quotes, and prepare comprehensive bid submittals.
  • Coordinate pre‑construction meetings to ensure communication among project managers, field staff, and office support.
  • Work with operations to define construction methods and staffing requirements.
  • Obtain required permits and licenses.
  • Track labor, equipment, and material costs to support cost containment.
  • Manage billing activities with Project Coordinators, ensuring accurate invoicing, accounts receivable collections, and timely accounts payable.
  • Interpret and meet EEO/DBE project requirements.
  • Ensure all project aspects meet safety, budget, and time‑frame expectations, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Approve change orders before work begins and manage scope changes to preserve profitability.
  • Facilitate communication with project owners and general contractors to promote safe, timely completion and adjust scopes or schedules if needed.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor‑vehicle record, pass a pre‑employment drug screen, and travel 10% of the time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Proficiency with construction bidding and project management software.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with MS Teams is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to senior leadership, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Analytical ability to define problems, collect and document data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skill in building and nurturing long‑term client relationships.
  • Commitment to compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods (50%+).
  • Use a computer, laptop, or iPad in an office environment.
  • Navigate between office floors and attend occasional off‑site meetings.
  • Occasional exposure to high noise levels, with hearing protection provided.
Work Environment
  • Primarily an office setting with required job‑site travel.
  • Work alone or in teams, often in variable environments.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, odors, dust, pressurized equipment, electrical hazards, and variable weather including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
