Clinical Psychiatrist

The Wyoming State Hospital is seeking an M.D. Psychiatrist to provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. This role is a vital part of delivering high-quality mental health care to individuals receiving services at the Wyoming State Hospital. • Perform admission and diagnostic evaluations to assess the mental status of patients and determine appropriate care
• Provide ongoing assessments and treatment to monitor progress
• Lead treatment teams regarding patient care, needs, and progress
• Maintain appropriate documentation required for patient care
• Update treatment plans actively
• Administer medical evaluations, oversee medication regimens, and provide psychiatric counseling
• Review and monitor physical symptoms
• Order and interpret laboratory studies
• Plan and coordinate discharge
• Coordinate with other disciplines, including primary care staff and external healthcare providers
• Direct workflow of interdisciplinary teams
• Train and educate students, nursing staff, psychology trainees, and other disciplines
• Lead therapeutic groups for patients
• Respond to code blues and emergencies
• Manage safety calls and frontline interventions
• Follow hospital and state policies for involuntary treatment
• Participate in calls with guardians and family members in accordance with policy
• Perform any additional medical duties assigned by the Medical Director

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)
• Board certified (or eligible) in Psychiatry
• Eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Wyoming

• Psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and medical conditions impacting patients
• Psychotherapy, side effects, risks, and benefits
• Guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding prescribing practices
• Current legal liabilities, federal and state rules, and standards governing psychiatric rehabilitation care
• Treatment interventions for highly complex cases

• Typically involves sitting comfortably, with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items

• FLSA:
