Job Description
Chariho Regional School District is seeking applicants for a Grade 2 Teacher leave of absence position for the school year only at Richmond Elementary School.
- Implements the curriculum and adheres to the policies and related directives of the Chariho Regional School District.
- Promotes the attainment of the District’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
- Displays strong and deep knowledge of the philosophical foundations and content of the curriculum.
- Applies current research-based best instructional practices and strategies to deliver the curriculum.
- Understands how knowledge is constructed within the discipline.
- Plans and prepares lessons to optimize learning.
- Promotes deep understanding of content by addressing unique learning styles, adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students, engaging students in rigorous learning experiences, using effective questioning techniques, and relating instruction to the student’s life and to prior and future learning.
- Contributes to and implements plans for students with unique needs, including IEPs, 504s, and individual health plans.
- Reinforces strong student effort and excellent student work products.
- Facilitates student learning through the use of various collaborative grouping structures appropriate to the instructional task.
- Requires students to regularly engage in high-level activities, including application and analysis of information.
- Administers and interprets various types of assessments.
- Maintains accurate student records and adjusts instruction based on assessment data.
- Makes appropriate referrals with credible documentation.
- Considers student voice in establishing and enforcing effective classroom rules and procedures.
- Organizes instructional delivery system and facilitates smooth transitions.
- Integrates technology to more effectively deliver the curriculum and instruction.
- Communicates high and clear expectations.
- Assists students in monitoring their own progress.
- Contributes to collaborative planning activities.
- Consults and collaborates professionally with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Performs personal professional growth.
- Participates in school events and improvement efforts.
- Supervises and assists with the evaluation of others.
- Performs administrative duties such as budgeting and ordering supplies.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Current Rhode Island Teaching Certification:
Early Childhood Education Teacher, Grades PK-3 or PK-2 or Elementary Education Teacher, Grades K-6 or Grades 1-6. - Praxis test results.
- Proficiency in structured literacy or equivalent required.
