JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor

JOB PURPOSE:

Contribute to the Department of Psychology’s mission in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, conducting research, and providing service to the department, field, and community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Psychology at the University of Wyoming (UW), a Carnegie R1 research institution, invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Clinical Psychology, to begin August 2027. Research area is open. We encourage applicants with adult and/or child/developmental backgrounds interested in research that complements the work of existing faculty (e.g., suicide and non-suicidal self‑injury, sexual violence prevention, trauma‑related psychopathology, emotion regulation, severe and persistent mental illness, transdiagnostic assessment, ADHD, substance use, eating disorders) as well as interests that extend existing areas of expertise.

Position responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, practicum supervision (part of a 2:2 load for research‑active faculty), career advising, research supervision of graduate students (graduate student mentorship), and the development of a productive research program. Prior to attaining tenure, and upon completion of licensing requirements, candidates must obtain licensure as a psychologist in Wyoming (). Lab space, internal grant opportunities, and competitive start‑up funds are provided through the Department and the University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD or ABD by August 31, 2027, from an APA- or CPA- accredited clinical psychology program
  • Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited clinical internship (by August 31, 2027)
  • Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the state of Wyoming
  • Evidence of high-quality research productivity
  • Evidence of high-quality teaching (quantity commensurate with professional level)
DESIRED

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Interest in and ability to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g., Empirically Supported Treatments, Developmental Psychopathology)
  • Demonstrated ability and/or demonstrated potential to supervise Clinical Psychology PhD students in evidence‑based psychological services (e.g., generalist adult therapy cases, autism spectrum disorders assessment)
  • The potential to contribute to ongoing or new collaborative research efforts across different areas of the department
