Position Overview
You will support the design, development, and validation of cooling and HVAC systems for off‑road vehicles as part of a research and development team. In this role, you build and modify prototype components, conduct system‑level testing, and evaluate new technologies to ensure vehicle specifications are met. You work hands‑on with test vehicles and fabrication tools while maintaining accurate documentation. This role is a compelling opportunity due to its direct impact on product performance and reliability across large‑scale, production‑bound ORV platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Support system‑level research and development activities with a focus on engine cooling and HVAC systems.
- Build, fabricate, and modify prototype components to support development and testing needs.
- Execute vehicle, component, and system tests while ensuring accuracy and reliability of data collected.
- Analyze test results and prepare clear test reports.
- Evaluate new and emerging cooling and HVAC technologies.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking of vehicle components and systems.
- Operate off‑road vehicles in a variety of conditions to support validation activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Communicate test outcomes and technical findings to engineering stakeholders.
- Technical / Functional Expertise:
Apply required technical or professional knowledge to perform your role effectively and stay current within your area of expertise, including hands‑on mechanical, fabrication, and vehicle testing activities that support cooling and HVAC system development. - Problem Solving:
Identify issues, assess root causes, and implement practical solutions that balance speed, quality, and risk when evaluating system performance and test results. - Communication:
Clearly convey information, ideas, and expectations to diverse audiences, ensuring accurate documentation and clear reporting of test findings and development activities.
- High school diploma required; a two‑year technical degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanic or technician experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience in vehicle or equipment systems.
- Experience with fabrication and welding is preferred.
- Ability to operate off‑road vehicles in extreme or demanding conditions.
- Experience using data acquisition or diagnostic tools is preferred.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license required with the capability to operate trucks with trailers under 26,000 GCVR.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts.
- Willingness to travel periodically for product evaluation and development activities.
