Plant Manager – Rock Springs, WY
The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective operation of the Rock Springs calcining operation. In this role, you provide technical leadership, drive process optimization, and partner across the plant to meet production, safety, environmental, and compliance objectives. As the public‑facing representative for the facility, you demonstrate strong communication and social skills and act as a key partner to the Site Manager.
Working on‑site, you provide clear leadership direction for the facility and help shape a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Take full facility accountability for the supply of raw materials, processing, and delivery of the final product, ensuring reliable operations and customer satisfaction.
- Lead day‑to‑day technical operations, establishing and maintaining key operating parameters, SOPs, and technical standards while driving process optimization and supporting Management of Change (MOC) activities.
- Conduct and lead root cause failure analyses and quality assurance activities, optimize control systems, and monitor plant performance to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure sitewide safety, environmental, legal, and operational excellence compliance, managing manufacturing costs within budget and supporting financial planning for the site.
- Hire, coach, and develop personnel, maintain and improve training materials, enhancing plant‑wide efficiency and capability, and foster a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Serve as primary support to the Site Manager and act as delegate when required, partnering with Operations Specialists, engineering, and the Plant Leadership Team to align priorities, share resources, and develop plant personnel.
- Coordinate closely with logistics, Environmental, Health, and Safety, quality, maintenance, utilities, analytical services, and inventory management, and engage with Marketing and Supply Chain to support product planning and customer commitments.
- Manage regulatory issues and public relations, serving as the face of the facility and developing and maintaining constructive relationships with the local community and state representatives.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Technical, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of manufacturing operations and/or maintenance experience, including process‑focused roles.
- At least 5 years of people leadership experience with a track record of developing and leading teams.
- Valid Driver’s License. Eligible to drive a company car if driving record meets company guidelines.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, process technology, unit operations, control systems, and engineering flow diagrams.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement environmental regulations, OSHA PSM standards, and process hazard analysis requirements.
- Strong business acumen and a customer‑focused mindset, with the ability to balance safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, drive change, and lead without direct authority, working effectively in cross‑functional teams as both leader and team member.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated interest and capability for future leadership growth.
- Experience in plant design, shutdowns, construction, or facility startup.
