• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 14 years of experience working on technology policy and infrastructure issues within government, industry, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations, and experience in executive-level relationship management.
• Experience with in state and local government.
• Experience in leadership/people management.

• Experience leading or supporting cross functional teams to deliver high impact economic development projects, including navigating site selection, permitting and community engagement in heavy industrial sectors.
• Experience with government procurement processes.
• A track record of team leadership and organizational influence, with an ability to navigate cross functional boundaries to drive results.
• Ability to travel up to 50%

In this role, you will be responsible for defining the strategic goal for the US West region Cloud government affairs, managing a team of regional managers to execute on complex, cross-functional policy objectives. You will serve as the primary architectural guide for state-level cloud and infrastructure policy, orchestrating engagement strategies that transcend individual market needs to deliver cohesive regional impact. You will direct the strategy for high-stakes, multi-year initiatives, ensuring that all regional efforts align with long-term business growth and risk mitigation objectives.

A critical component of this role is fostering cross-Google connectivity, acting as a catalyst by aligning internal stakeholders across teams to advance Google’s Cloud business and technical infrastructure.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders.
