Summary

You will serve as a Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL) - Supervisory Park Ranger (Interpretation) for Yellowstone National Park .

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
Provides guidance and leadership in the decision-making process for interpretive programs, both on-site and off-site. Provides for employee and visitor safety through ongoing implementation and development of park, Resource Education and Youth Programs, and local Safety Plans. Supervises both permanent and temporary employees performing visitor center and interpretive services, and outreach. Develops professional level interpretive training, coaching, and mentoring to front line interpretive staff.

Uses knowledge of professional interpretive principles and techniques to ensure programs are properly prepared and presented, and public interactions are carried out effectively and efficiently. Physical Demands:
Duties and responsibilities require long workdays and travel by ell modes of transportation. Incumbent often must lift heavy boxes and equipment, move furniture, and push or pull an 800-pound snowmobile. Work conditions include extreme heat or cold, high wind, rain, or snow. The duties of the position require mental stamina and considerable physical exertion during peak visitation periods and emergencies.

The Incumbent drives sedans, light trucks, SUVs, and snowmobiles. Work Environment:
The Incumbent works in a northern mountainous park with fluctuations in temperature from 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to
-50 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. Snow depths during the winter may vary from two to eight feet. Elevation ranges from 5,000 to 11,000 feet. The emotional environment Is most commonly one of high stress.

Education

You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not qualified for the position.

To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This position is suitable for telework only during and emergency or natural disaster. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.

You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. Weekend work required. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Must be able to drive government vehicles including sedans, light trucks, SUVs, and snow mobiles. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
