General DescriptionAs a Public Health Nurse serving Carbon County
, you’ll be a leader in promoting health, preventing disease, and building stronger communities across Rawlins and the surrounding areas. Our Public Health Nurses deliver a wide range of services designed for rural Wyoming communities, including:
- Administering vaccines.
- Managing infectious diseases.
- Providing maternal and child health services.
- Conducting health education sessions.
- Supporting public health emergency response efforts.

- Conduct nursing assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and evaluations in line with ANA's Public Health Nursing Standards.
- Arrange and lead community health clinics and health education classes.
- Support public health core functions, prioritizing services that meet community needs.
- Administer adult and child vaccines, provide STI/HIV testing, manage TB testing, and more.
- Provide Ryan White case management, maternal and child home visitation, lactation counseling, and LT‑101 reviews.
- Collaborate with the nurse manager and public health response coordinator on emergency preparedness activities.
Preferences / Agency Requirements
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.
- Driver's license required.
- Knowledge of laws, principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing.
- Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records, charts, reports, and observations.
- Knowledge of principles of the nursing process and the scientific process.
- Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care.
- Knowledge of scientific concepts as a basis for decision‑making.
- Knowledge of physical, biological, and behavioral sciences.
- Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards.
- Knowledge of work management and leadership theory and practice.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local law pertaining to healthcare.
- Knowledge of public health core functions and essential services.
Minimum Qualifications
:
Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Experience
: 0–2 years of progressive work experience in nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN.
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.
Physical Working Conditions- Lift/transfer patients to different positions.
- Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
- Restrain clients for treatments, climb stairs to patient homes, and drive long distances.
- Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
- Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires it.
