Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer - RHEL

Overview

Job Description The Senior Infrastructure Engineer designs, engineers, and supports complex physical and cloud-hosted data center environments, including networking, compute, storage, platforms, middleware, databases, and telephony. This role independently evaluates current and future requirements to deliver scalable, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions, develops and maintains technical standards and documentation, leads proof-of-technology efforts, and collaborates closely with technical teams, business partners, and leadership to plan, assess, and resolve data center and cloud infrastructure design challenges.

• Design and develop complex infrastructure solutions across network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database technologies, ensuring technology currency and capacity alignment with SLAs.
• Establish and maintain hardware and software performance standards while serving as the SME for emerging technologies and strategic vendor solutions.
• Lead infrastructure design for major projects, collaborating with IT stakeholders, service owners, and vendors to ensure solutions align with architectural intent.
• Ensure operational readiness through performance tuning, systems support, incident resolution, and planning and execution of software installations and upgrades.
• Maintain standardized engineering procedures and contribute to broader architectural roadmaps, strategies, and standards.
• Present new technologies to leadership and mentor junior team members to support capability growth and consistency across the team.

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
• 5+ years of experience in RHEL/Linux
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in RHEL/Linux

• Experience with Ansible or other automation
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite
• Experience with AWS and/or IBM AIX
• Understanding of Security hardening (CIS benchmarks, STIGs)
• Familiarity with network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware and database solutions
