General Description
We are seeking a dependable, detail‑oriented Custodian to join our facilities team at the Thyra Thomson Office Building
. The position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all state employees and visitors, with a mid‑shift from 12pm‑9pm Monday through Friday.

- General cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, washing windows and mirrors, and cleaning/stocking restrooms, bathrooms, and offices.
- Learn location of custodial supplies and replenish when needed.
- Identify areas that need repair and submit information to the supervisor.
- Comply with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA.
- Operate and maintain equipment including vacuums, riding floor cleaners, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and tools.
- Move furniture and set up conference rooms for meetings and events.
- Perform designated watchman rounds to ensure security and safety, check building systems for proper function, and update security logs.
- Perform chemical renovations.
- Monitor fire protection systems.
- Assist with outside building and grounds duties such as trash and snow removal.
- Preference for applicants with prior experience working with PPE, emergency procedures, event setup and coordination, cleaning methods, cleaning materials, and chemicals.
- Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and methods of more technical cleaning and maintenance.
- Knowledge of power and manual tools.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Minimum qualification:
High School Diploma.
Experience:
0‑6 months of progressive work experience in building and grounds, or 1‑2 years for substitution.
- Exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, chemicals, bio‑hazards, and elements.
- Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Requires a shift from 12pm‑9pm.
