Overview
A senior‑level management and supervisory position responsible for all Land Quality Division (LQD) work at the Lander district office. The role supervises seven staff members and ensures coal and non‑coal inspections, annual report reviews, permit reviews, and enforcement actions are performed efficiently and effectively. It directs operational, personnel, and planning functions to meet division goals, requiring independent judgment and strong management and human‑relations skills.
EssentialFunctions
- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the LQD Lander district office.
- Ensure all permitting actions are reviewed within statutory deadlines effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure all annual reports are reviewed within applicable deadlines effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure all inspections are conducted in a timely manner and all compliance concerns are addressed and corrected.
- Work closely with permit holders and applicants to ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
- Perform a full range of highly complex tasks—including supervision, data interpretation, rule development, and critical decision making.
- Interact with members of the public to investigate and respond to complaints and allegations.
- Understand mining and reclamation and interpret LQD statutes, rules, and guidelines.
- Participate in various LQD and industry work groups.
- In cooperation with the LQD administrator, develop policy, rules, and guidelines.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in the sciences).
Experience:
3–5 years progressive work experience with knowledge at the level of a Natural Resources Program Supervisor, OR 6–8 years progressive work experience with such knowledge. Experience substitution is accepted where qualifications are demonstrated.
