In the RN role you will be responsible for prepping patients for surgery by completing assessments, starting an IV, ensuring that consents and paperwork are completed, administering preop medications, and assisting with nerve blocks. You will care for patients post anesthesia recovery in phase 1 and 2. Join a cohesive team working to achieve the best patient outcomes each night.

Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week. Four 10-hour night shifts, Monday–Thursday, 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM. Night shift differential of 15%.

Banner Wyoming Medical Center is located in the heart of Casper, Wyoming. As the state's largest inpatient facility, it is known for its cardiac and stroke services. With 249 beds and a level 2 trauma center, it serves the entire state.

Position Summary: This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered and utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the patient’s age and developmental level.

Core Functions

1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews history and physical with patient/family and relevant team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician and other caregivers. Completes assessments and reassessments as needed and per policy.
  • 2. Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, using assessment data and input from patient, family and health team. Sets realistic, measurable goals and collaborates with the patient/family. Plans care with the multidisciplinary team and revises as patient needs change.
  • 3. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team. Provides care per physician orders and nursing plan, in compliance with policies, standards of care and regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately and communicates patient status to the care team.
  • 4. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Monitors progress toward goals and outcomes in collaboration with the team.
  • 5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and compliant with policy. Includes objective data, interventions and patient response. Notes orders accurately and timely.
  • 6. Provides care based on best available evidence and may participate in clinical practice improvement activities. Participates in unit leadership, education and orientation of staff, patients and families. Supports mentoring and professional development where appropriate.
  • 7. Contributes to improved patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care. Participates in quality improvement and professional activities.
  • 8. In some roles, may supervise staff and department workflow.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, a temporary/interim RN license, or compact licensure for the state of practice.
    • BLS certification required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
    • Experience in the clinical area of application is preferred. Must maintain clinical competencies through annual validations. Acute care experience is required for Banner Registry and Travel roles, including recent experience in an acute care setting as an RN in the specialty area.
    • Home Health: must be able to operate a personal vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license; auto insurance required.
    • Behavioral Health roles in various Banner facilities may require a State of Arizona fingerprint clearance card and related documentation at hire and during employment, as applicable.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
