Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. Specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills are required to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Functions
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history and physical with patient/family; ensure timely completion; review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate caregivers; complete assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, using assessment data and patient/family and health team input; initiate a plan of care based on patient-specific needs and medical plan; set realistic, measurable goals; consider patient physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific and educational needs; plan care collaboratively with multidisciplinary team; revise plan as patient status changes.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision; provide care based on physician orders and nursing plan, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care and regulatory requirements; delegate appropriately; supervise nursing care by other licensed nurses and personnel; ensure continuity of care through accurate communication of patient status.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed; assess patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes; evaluate effectiveness of patient teaching.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and meets policy; accurately note physician orders.
  • Provide care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities; engage in unit or facility shared leadership; participate in education, role development and orientation of staff, patients, families and visitors; promote growth of others through precepting and mentoring.
  • Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes; participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engage in professional organizations as appropriate.
  • May supervise staff and manage departmental workflow as required.
  • Interact with staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts; provide spiritual support with clergy; synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family response to health changes.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires current, valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure). BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Must have at least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.

Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Additional state-specific clearance cards are required for certain high‑risk facilities (Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Additional Information

Full Time positions working 3–12 hour shifts; rotating shift or straight night shifts available; night shift differential of 15%.

Sign‑On Bonus: 15,000 hire on bonus* (Eligibility requires 1+ years of RN experience).
