Location: Weston, OH
Compensation: $75,000–$82,000 annually
Shift: 1st Shift with flexibility to support 2nd Shift as needed
1st Shift: 6:00 AM–3:50 PM
2nd Shift: 3:50 PM–2:00 AM
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and injury prevention within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Safety Specialist will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Leadership to promote a safe work environment, reduce workplace risks, maintain OSHA compliance, and strengthen the overall safety culture.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and enforce safe work practices throughout production, warehouse, maintenance, and sanitation areas.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments to identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Investigate workplace injuries, incidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Support OSHA compliance programs, including PPE, machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, forklift safety, and emergency response.
- Deliver employee safety training, including new-hire orientation, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and assist with identifying and reporting trends to management.
- Maintain accurate documentation for safety inspections, incident reports, training records, and corrective actions.
- Support workers’ compensation meetings and employee safety engagement initiatives.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and HR to drive continuous improvement and workplace safety.
- Stay current with OSHA requirements, regulatory changes, and manufacturing safety best practices.
- Assist with corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and other safety-related projects as needed.
- Previous Safety or EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards.
- Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work on the manufacturing floor, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working around machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must be flexible to support 1st and 2nd shift operations as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Safety certification such as COSS, ASP, CSP, or equivalent.
- Forklift certification or experience supporting powered industrial truck programs.
- Previous experience in food production or manufacturing facilities.
