General Description

Want to use your people skills and sales experience in a unique role while meeting visitors from all over the country and the world? Join the Wyoming State Parks team for a summer of new experiences at Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site. Located twenty miles south of Sheridan, Fort Phil Kearny narrates the dramatic story of Red Cloud’s War, 1866 fort life, the Bozeman Trail, and how they were all intertwined.

Essential Functions
  • Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Answer visitors' questions and provide an educational interpretation of the site.
  • Handle monetary transactions, including fee collection, weekly fee reports, and bookstore sales and ordering.
  • Reconcile cash register and restock bookstore shelves, tracking inventory.
  • Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cleaning as needed.
  • Assist all Absaroka District sites with special projects and events.
Qualifications
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with visitors from diverse cultures.
  • Experience handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple groups of visitors simultaneously.
  • Detail‑oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments and tasks.
  • Willingness to work on a variety of assignments daily and to learn information quickly.
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
Physical Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds, with or without assistance.
