Position Overview

The Deli Service Clerk is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the deli department by preparing, packaging, and merchandising deli products while maintaining department cleanliness, food safety standards, and excellent customer service.

The Deli Service Clerk reports to the Deli Department Manager and works as part of the deli team to ensure high-quality products are prepared and displayed properly while providing friendly and knowledgeable service to customers.

Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Product Handling
  • Process, prepare, or cook deli products for display in service cases or shelves according to department standards.
  • Slice, package, weigh, and label deli items for sale.
  • Ensure food is handled, stored, and prepared in accordance with company food safety standards.
  • Maintain product freshness and rotate items as needed.
Product Merchandising & Display
  • Package and stock deli products in service cases and display shelves.
  • Maintain attractive, well‑stocked displays throughout the workday.
  • Assist with merchandising and promotional displays within the department.
  • Offer product samples to customers when appropriate.
Customer Service
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers in the deli department.
  • Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and preparation questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of deli products and selling techniques to assist customers effectively.
Sanitation & Department Maintenance
  • Maintain department cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Clean food preparation areas, equipment, and service cases regularly.
  • Follow proper food handling and safety procedures.
Operational Support
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the deli department when assigned.
  • Support department operations and assist coworkers as needed throughout the shift.

Compliance & Company Standards
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines outlined in the Lynn’s Inc. & Affiliates Primary Policy Manual.
  • Comply with applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Follow company safety and security policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company operational information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by department or store leadership.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Retail or food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced food preparation environment.
  • Strong attention to product quality and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to provide friendly and helpful customer service.
  • Ability to safely operate deli equipment as trained.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
