GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Highway Maintenance Technician & Snowplow Operator in Riverton, Wyoming
. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the maintenance of Wyoming’s transportation system, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You’ll perform essential maintenance duties with limited supervision, helping to preserve and improve the roadways in this scenic and vital region of the state.

Essential FunctionsThe listed functions are illustrative and not exhaustive.
- Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently. Trains incumbents in operation and maintenance of equipment. Provides work direction to Highway Maintenance Assistant employees. Under limited supervision, flags traffic and sets up traffic control devices.
- Operates single and tandem-axle trucks with stripers, augers, aerial lift equipment, plows, wing plows, sanders, and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from roadways.
- Responsible for rehabilitation of roadway surfaces and traffic control devices.
- Maintains equipment and facilities in rest areas, including water and wastewater treatment.
- Attends and completes required training to obtain/maintain certifications, perform inspections, and learn new skills.
- Communicates work status and process effectiveness to others; utilizes special computerized equipment.
- Performs duties involved in removing snow and ice from roadways.
- Adheres to safety standards, policies, and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
PREFERENCES / AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Must have the ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- Must be able to obtain certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
- Must be able to obtain a Defensive Driving certificate.
- Must be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
- Must be able to obtain a Flagger certification.
- Knowledge of state highway pavement marking and signing standards.
- Knowledge of specifications, standard plans, policies, procedures, rules, and traffic control standards.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Knowledge of Hazardous Materials Response Procedures and PPE usage.
- Knowledge of basic operation of single and tandem axle trucks, loaders, and tractors.
- Knowledge of Safe Work Procedures and MSDS for chemicals used in tasks.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize office equipment (computers, calculators, telephones).
