Deli Clerk

Overview

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking a Deli Clerk to prepare and cook fresh meals, serve customers, and maintain a clean, safe deli area.

• Assist customers in making healthy food choices and prepare “fresh and easy meals.”
• Provide high level customer service and ensure deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented.
• Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
• Prepare special orders and party trays.
• Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment following company standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment, including cleaning shelves, floor, and removing hazards.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
• Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer).
• Operate slicer, wrapping, and cooking equipment; assist in maintaining equipment in safe working condition.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in different temperature environments (cooler and freezer).
• Other related duties as assigned.

• At least 18 years old with high school diploma or equivalent; experience in grocery, restaurant, or related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Dependable, reliable, outgoing, friendly with positive attitude; excellent customer interaction.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills; takes direction and works in a team environment.
• Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
• Can lift/carry product up to 70 lbs., 4 in. to 60 in., up to 20 ft. without mechanical assistance for up to 4 hours.
• Can stand continuously for up to 4 hours, totaling 8 hours per shift.
• Must be able to work in varying temperatures.
