The Retail Associate plays a critical role in delivering excellent customer service while driving sales at the counter. This position is responsible for assisting customers with product selection, processing sales transactions, maintaining accurate inventory, and supporting overall store operations. Retail associates serve as a key point of contact for contractors, homeowners, and DIY customers, ensuring a positive, efficient, and knowledgeable buying experience while upholding all company standards related to safety, merchandising, and loss prevention.

• Provide friendly, professional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and helping identify the right products and solutions.
• Assist with product selection, pricing, availability, special orders, and order entry while maintaining knowledge of products, promotions, and seasonal merchandise.
• Accurately process sales, returns, credits, and payments through the POS system while following established cash-handling procedures.
• Stock and replenish merchandise, maintain displays and pricing, and keep sales areas clean, organized, and customer-ready.
• Monitor inventory, communicate shortages or customer concerns, and follow company procedures for safety, loss prevention, pricing, and inventory control.
• Partner with yard, delivery, and management teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment, efficient daily operations, and a positive customer experience.

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 years of retail, counter sales, or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lumber, building materials, construction products, or related industries strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including experience with POS and inventory systems.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
