Position SummaryThe Plumber performs skilled plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair work on new and existing Northern Arapaho Tribal Housing (NATH) units and facilities. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing water supply, drainage, and waste systems in accordance with safety regulations, and Housing Authority standards. The Plumber works under the direction of the Construction Services Supervisor and collaborates with other construction staff to ensure timely and high-quality completion of housing projects.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Perform skilled plumbing work for new construction, renovations, and repairs of NATH rental units and NATH buildings.
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including water lines, drainage systems, fixtures, valves, and appliances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, materials, and installation procedures.
- Diagnose plumbing issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Ensure all plumbing work complies with applicable plumbing codes, safety regulations, and Housing Authority standards.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and maintain equipment in proper working condition.
- Assist in estimating materials, ordering supplies, and preparing job sites.
- Collaborate with carpenters, electricians, laborers, and other trades on multi-discipline construction projects.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
- Follow direction from the Construction Services Supervisor to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support housing construction and maintenance operations.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Four (4) or more years of experience in residential or commercial plumbing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, methods, and tools.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, measurements, and technical instructions.
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety practices.
- Ability to safely operate plumbing tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical labor in all weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must adhere to Housing Authority safety rules, regulations, and policies.
- Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent certification.
- Experience working on tribal, HUD, or housing authority construction projects.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and plumbing best practices.
- Certification or training in plumbing, construction safety, or building inspection.
