The Wyoming Department of Corrections is seeking an HVAC Specialist at the Wyoming Women’s Center. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, including heating systems, central air conditioning, refrigeration systems, oil burners, hot‑air furnaces, and heating stoves. The role is essential in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient climate control throughout the facility.

Established in 1981, the Wyoming Women’s Center serves as the primary education and treatment center for female inmates within the WDOC system. • This position performs all the duties of the HVAC Specialist.
• Installs, adjusts, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical, direct digital controls, and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems.
• Conducts routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.
• Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance, payments, design, and installation.
• Works with professional engineers on project design and construction.
• Designs and conducts cost estimates for the installation of environmental control units and facility support systems that need new systems or replacement systems.
• Manages the procurement and use of ozone‑depleting substances.
• Conducts efficiency analysis on HVAC systems and proposes energy‑saving modifications.
• Utilizes infrared imaging for predictive maintenance.
• Installs and maintains mechanical equipment, including cars wash, hot water high‑pressure washers, cafeteria kitchen appliances, precision lab ovens, lab refrigeration units, lab walk‑in drying ovens, humidifiers, precision cooling units for server, radio, microwave, and telecom rooms, dispatch, and operations areas critical to the agency’s mission and public safety.
• Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and air‑conditioning plants and other related equipment.
• Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preference may be given to those with 3-4 years of progressive work experience in the HVAC field.

• Knowledge of refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, air conditioning, and related air handling equipment.
• Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC‑R Equipment.
