We are currently seeking an Electrician - Dragline/Drills to join our maintenance team at our North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM). NARM is the world's largest surface coal mine and is located in Wright, Wyoming. The mine produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It has approximately 465 million tons of coal reserves.

Job Summary

The Electrician - Pit working on the Draglines, Drills and Shovels are responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on large-scale surface mining equipment, including draglines, electric shovels, drills, and support equipment. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable operation of high-voltage systems in an open pit mining environment while maintaining strict compliance with MSHA regulations.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Diagnose and repair electrical issues on:

* Draglines (walking systems, hoist/drag motors, control systems)

* Electric shovels (crowd, hoist, swing systems)

* Blast hole drills and auxiliary equipment

* Maintain and troubleshoot:

* DC and AC drive systems

* Motor generator (MG) sets or solid-state drive systems

* PLC and relay-based control systems

* Perform inspections and maintenance on trailing cables, cable reels, and high-voltage connections

* Work safely on and around high-voltage systems (typically 4,160V - 13.8kV)

* Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot: o Substations, transformers, switch gear, and breakers

* Perform switching procedures and assist with energization/de-energization

* Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and grounding system integrity

* Conduct scheduled inspections and PMs on:

* Motors, control cabinets, braking systems, and electrical rooms

* Identify wear, heat damage, and early failure indicators

* Utilize testing equipment (megger, infrared, etc.) to prevent failures

* Install and repair:

* Cable splices, terminations, and junction boxes

* Lighting systems, sensors, and communication lines

* Perform emergency field repairs to restore production quickly and safely

* Assist in rigging and positioning of cables and electrical components

* Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities

* Report equipment conditions and recurring issues to supervisors

* Communicate clearly with operations to minimize downtime

Physical Requirements

Qualifications

Education/

Experience:

* Strong understanding of:

* High-voltage distribution systems

* AC/DC motors and control systems

* PLC troubleshooting and electrical schematics

* Experience with:

* DC drives and/or AC VFD systems

* Ground fault systems and protection relays

* Proficient in use of:

* Multimeter, megger, amp clamp, and diagnostic tools

* High school diploma or GED

* 3-7 years of heavy industrial or mining electrical experience

* OEM-specific training (e.g., dragline or shovel systems) (preferred)

* MSHA Surface Certification (Part 46 or 48) (If candidate does not have MSHA Electrical card employee will be required to obtain within two years of employment.)

SURFACE ENVIRONMENT

* Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift

* Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles

* Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders

* Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
