GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Wyoming Military Department is seeking a Skilled Trades Specialist to support the Wyoming Army National Guard at Camp Guernsey. In this role, you will contribute to the sustainment, restoration, and modernization of Camp Guernsey’s cantonment area and more than 78,000 acres of surrounding land managed by the Wyoming Military Department. Your work will help maintain and improve critical infrastructure, including roads, buildings, training ranges, water systems, and fire mitigation projects.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring Camp Guernsey remains a safe, functional, and mission‑ready training installation and works directly under the supervision of the Department of Public Works.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- General maintenance, preventative, predictive, and repair of all facilities and infrastructure, interior and exterior, such as electrical, replacing bulbs and ballasts, repairing or replacing switches, controls, dialers, and other electrical components.
- Performs locksmith duties.
- Assists in installing, repairing, and maintaining heating systems, gas systems, refrigeration systems, boiler systems, and air handling units. Also includes carpentry, rough to finish, frame, form walls, floors, sidewalks, curb and gutter, footers, build cabinets, map frames, counters, furnishings, paint, latex and oil, drywall, and texture.
- General maintenance, preventative, predictive, and repair of roads, grounds, parking areas, and landscaping, including operating heavy to light equipment to grade roads, haul material, snow removal, excavate, and other equipment used to build or maintain road networks, repair underground pipes, parking areas, culverts, fire breaks, and ranges. Other general duties include welding, cutting, and fabricating gates, fences, and infrastructure. General repair and maintenance of water and sewer services, such as plumbing, minor and significant, pump stations, lift stations, automated sprinkler systems, irrigation systems, etc.,
for all Camp Guernsey infrastructure. Inspects, cleans, and maintains work trucks and inventories of all tools, equipment, and storage areas associated with this position. - Whether licensed or working under a licensed applicator, it facilitates weed mitigation and uses the necessary resources to spray chemicals on currently approved areas. Works around hazardous materials.
- Admin associated with this position includes a detailed description of work performed on service orders, executes time cards and Installation Status Reports (ISRs), and attends required training.
- Provide inspections on all buildings and grounds to include all safety aspects. Reports back to higher for all shortcomings or requirements.
- Attend meetings daily, weekly, and monthly as needed for specialized coordination and situational awareness.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Preference will be given to applicants with trades experience (Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
- Required to obtain/maintain a Driver's License.
- Required to obtain/maintain Federal Security Clearance.
- Proficient in electrical diagnosis, building codes, woodworking, metalworking, and masonry equipment.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding construction operations with the vehicle and or aircraft maintenance facilities.
- Knowledge in skilled trades, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electronics.
- Ability to understand blueprints and schematics.
- Develop key systems, including diagnostics and repairs.
- CDL and heavy equipment knowledge.
- Knowledge of fire codes.
Education:
Associate's Degree
Experience:
0‑2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Laborer.
Or 2‑4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Laborer for substitution.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Required to work in all types of weather conditions.
