What you will do

How you will do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics who have practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipe fitting, and/or mechanical equipment service industry. Mechanics must have practical working experience in light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. May be required to pass an examination to identify special skills. Scope of work limited to commercial HVACR service. Servicemen may partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.

Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for Required
  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
  • Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast‑growing business.
  • Twelve (12) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in the HVAC industry and Industrial Petro‑Chemical, or Data Center vertical environments. This includes rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
  • Lead large complex repairs, jobs or retrofits.
  • Repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
  • Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
  • Install complete systems (chillers, rooftop units, plumbing and all supporting mechanical systems).
  • Perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, laser etc. of pumps, fans, compressors.
  • Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drive lines.
  • Travel may be required 10–20% to support Branch Customers activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
  • Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
  • Invest in career development by enrolling in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Collaborate with other local market mechanics, servicemen and apprentices and provide on‑the‑job training when necessary.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills. Provide problem, cause, and corrective actions to customers.
  • Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Self‑starter with passion/desire to learn and apply on the job.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
  • Hold a Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range: $52 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that exceed the typical profile.
