Job Summary
The primary functions of the electrician include but are not limited to troubleshooting and ensuring quality repairs to plant equipment and electrical systems in a safe, efficient and productive manner. This position will work 6am-4pm; some weekends may be required.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA.
- Follow all company policies and local, state and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
- Maintain electronic and process control equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motor controls and drives.
- Design, install, maintain and repair overhead high voltage power lines.
- Work closely with the engineering group and outside contracted vendors to meet deadlines and complete repairs, upgrades and capital improvement projects.
- Assist other electricians as needed and complete special projects.
- May be responsible for welding associated with the above duties.
- Operate mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform preventive maintenance and pre‑shift inspections; repair or clean mobile equipment as needed.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance of self, shop and work areas.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.
- Safe work history and positive attitude toward safety.
- Electrician with 1–2 years of industrial electrical experience or more.
- Actively working toward an MSHA electrical certification.
- Ability to work on high voltage systems under supervision.
- Ability to perform ground bed and ground continuity resistance testing.
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical wiring schematics.
- Technical electrical education helpful; degree not required.
- Willingly on call and willing to work flexible schedules, including swing shift, graveyard shift, overtime, and weekends as required.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and comprehension communication skills.
- Willingness to perform heavy labor, work outdoors in all weather extremes, and support team collaboration.
- Lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently.
- Climb and navigate stairs and ladders repeatedly.
- Bend, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, and use vibration producing tools frequently.
- Tolerate outdoor work in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
- Reach, squat, and stand/walk/sit for prolonged periods; walk on uneven surfaces.
