HVAC Master Technician

Zachry Maintenance Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Master Technician for the HF Sinclair Refinery in Sinclair, Wyoming. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of commercial and industrial HVAC systems supporting refinery operations. This role requires a valid Master HVAC License and extensive knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related control systems.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while working in a heavy industrial environment.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC control systems and building automation systems (BAS).
  • Perform inspections and testing to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with applicable codes.
  • Repair or replace compressors, motors, bearings, belts, fans, pumps, filters, and other HVAC components.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate work activities with operations, maintenance, contractors, and refinery personnel.
  • Comply with all company, client, OSHA, and refinery safety requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response and outage activities as required.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to apprentice and journeyman HVAC technicians.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid Master HVAC License (State of Wyoming or ability to obtain reciprocity if applicable).
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial and industrial HVAC experience.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, package units, cooling towers, and ventilation systems.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls, BAS systems, and PLC interfaces.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and calibration instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pass all site-specific requirements, background checks, and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Refinery, petrochemical, industrial manufacturing, or heavy industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience with Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, or similar automation systems.
  • NCCER certification or equivalent technical training.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access elevated platforms.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
