The main duties of the Field Service Technician position include performing a full range of diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and modification work on conveyors, crushers, feeders, stackers, and support equipment including Caterpillar and John Deere loaders, dozers, skid steers, JCI, Metso KPI, and similar equipment.
This is a full-time position that will be based out of Sundance, Wyoming and will require travel and overnight stays at various locations throughout the region. The schedule is day shift Monday through Friday with occasional weekends as job completion and equipment availability determine.
This position will be dispatched out of Sundance, WY by the Regional Equipment Manager. MSHA certification is required to work in quarries, gravel pits, construction sites, and aggregate operations. The primary function is to be a heavy equipment Field Service Technician with knowledge of heavy equipment used in the aggregate crushing industry. This role also provides support to paving and construction crews when needed.
The Field Service Technician reports to the Equipment Manager and has no supervisory responsibility.

- Perform a full range of repair and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles, including light-duty and heavy-duty trucks, backhoes, loaders, paving equipment, and related equipment.
- Repair tires, wheels, wheel bearings, idler wheels and bearings, oil seals, and hydraulic and air brake systems.
- Diagnose and repair emission control systems and electronic machine systems.
- Perform minor repairs on engines, transmissions, transfers, and related electrical, fuel, and hydraulic components.
- Inspect parts for damage or wear using testing equipment such as compression testers, computer software tools, test meters, micrometers, gauges, and robust diagnostics skills.
- Use technical manuals and equipment-specific programs to identify and order repair parts.
- Operate large heavy equipment and trucks to diagnose specifications.
- Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work as this job description is non-exhaustive.
- Consent to pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
- Class A CDL and current Medical DOT card.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, John Deere, Bobcat, JLG, Kenworth, and Peterbilt equipment.
- Accreditation from a mechanics program or 3+ years working with heavy construction equipment.
- Be proficient with computer diagnostic tools such as CAT Electronic Technician, SIS web, and Cummins Insight.
- Dependability and reliability by showing up to scheduled shifts on time and being prepared for work.
- A positive attitude is critical to ensure productive working relationships with coworkers and management.
- Continuous exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, noise, dusty conditions, and working outdoors.
- Overnight travel is not standard but may be required.
