Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to serve as a Substitute Bus Driver at our Bus Barn. This position is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students and passengers during the absence of regular bus drivers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and safe environment for all passengers.
Responsibilities- Operate school buses and other transportation vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Transport students and passengers to and from designated locations, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with operational standards.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized bus interior and exterior.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any changes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while transporting passengers.
- Manage student behavior on the bus, ensuring a respectful and safe environment for all.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
- Be available to fill in for regular drivers on short notice, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional special events.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B with appropriate endorsements:
Passenger and School Bus. The District will give necessary training to obtain CDL Class B, Passenger and School Bus endorsements. - Clean driving record with no major violations or suspensions.
- Previous experience driving large vehicles or buses preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Must pass background checks and drug screening as required by law and district policy.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including early mornings, late afternoons, and occasional weekends or holidays.
- Commitment to safety and the well-being of all passengers.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
