Position Overview

The Assistant Financial Controller reports to the Financial Controller who oversees all accounting and finance activities for the medical practice, including managerial accounting, high‑level accounting, and external audit coordination. The controller ensures compliance with reporting guidelines and collaborates with a chief financial officer to implement organizational financial controls.

Essential Functions
  • Assist the financial controller with primary responsibilities ensuring the business operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Support accounting tasks such as billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting.
  • Gather data to help the controller prepare and deliver budgetary financial forecasts for board approval.
  • Coordinate regulatory reporting and maintain compliance with all governmental requirements.
  • Prepare and publish monthly financial statements.
  • Research technical accounting issues to support compliance efforts.
  • Implement quality control measures for financial reporting and transactions.
  • Manage and file tax and regulatory reports at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls.
Work Experience

1 to 2 years of experience in an accounting role, including exposure to billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role follows a Monday‑through‑Friday schedule with traditional hours, though overtime or weekend work may be required during busy financial reporting periods.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related field. A CPA credential is preferred; candidates should meet state requirements for the CPA license.
