Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Cashier

- Keep deli service areas well stocked and appealing at all times to meet customer demands.
- Smile and greet customers, answer questions and help resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure freshness and condition of merchandise in display cases, properly price and sign items.
- Rotate product properly and handle spoiled or damaged items per company procedures.
- Operate slicing equipment to provide meats and cheeses per customer preferences.
- Package items and apply stickers indicating price, weight, and date.
- Prepare ready‑to‑eat foods, platters of sliced meats, cheeses and vegetable trays.
- Use knives and kitchen utensils safely while preparing food items such as chicken, pizza, sandwiches, salads and other hot or cold foods.
- Operate cash register and handle money in accordance with policies to avoid overages or shortages.
- Adhere to laws related to tobacco and alcohol sales.
- Perform general sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and health/OSHA requirements.
- Dispose of trash properly.
- Assist in inventory control through time and temperature practices, minimize losses by proper handling and logging.
- Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties when trained.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, checking‑in, breaking‑down, and storing deliveries as trained.
- Cooperate with co‑workers and superiors to ensure smooth department and store operation.
- Continuously improve job performance.
- Use all company‑provided personal protective equipment (PPE) such as cut‑resistant gloves, safety cutters, footwear, etc.
- Assist in other departments as called upon.
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSEducation and/or experience:
Completed or working toward a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). No prior experience required.
