CAD/ AutoCAD/ Mechanical Design, Engineering Design & Technologists
Responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and patterns using computer-aided design software, collaborating with manufacturing management staff and government entities and/or other non-profit agency (NPA) partners and commercial partners to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Create detailed technical drawings and patterns using CAD software:
Grade patterns; create markers; digitize patterns; organize and manage files; prepare and send digital patterns to plotters and cutting machines. - Proficiency in textiles and garment construction:
Be aware of fabric properties; understand sewing techniques and garment assembly. - Use equipment for digital design and technical drawing:
Familiarity with digital drawing and vector manipulation. - Troubleshoot and resolve errors in pattern pieces, grading, or marker layouts:
Identify and resolve errors in pattern pieces; ensure patterns meet quality standards and production requirements. - Collaborate with designers and management/production teams for seamless workflow:
Ensure clear documentation and communication of pattern changes, specifications, and technical details. - Stay current with new system features and industry trends; adapt to new design challenges, client requirements, and evolving technologies.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Proficiency in CAD software
- Proficiency in color theory, pattern, and textile design principles
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational, time management and communication skills
- Problem-solving and technical skills of product development from conceptualization to finished design
- Ability to work independently or as a team to ensure accuracy and under tight deadlines
Associate degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or related field required;
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum three years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering, or architecture required; experience in textile manufacturing preferred.
Certification in the use of CAD software preferred.
