Job DescriptionThe full performance level class works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of clerical and secretarial procedures; administrative support procedures; office processes, procedures and policies to perform routine and non-routine administrative support activities.

Serves as the primary contact person for counter traffic and telephone communications; explains policies and procedures to the public and answer routine questions regarding the department and services offered. Serves as the primary contact for Animal Control Officers in the field, communicating mission, location and status by radio dispatch while maintaining the officer log and close contact with management. Performs routine and non-routine tasks.
Performs adoptions, animal in-processing and license sales, using appropriate forms, fees, receipts and computer entries. Secures all cash and non-cash payments, and balances cash drawer to include non-cash payments. Provides assistance, as necessary and appropriate, handling animals during adoptions and in-processing in the absence of Shelter Attendants, Animal Control Officers and Managerial staff. Staff special adoption events off-site and outside the established work schedule.
Prepares certified mail, takes messages and performs other clerical duties as required; maintains orderliness of the office; attends meetings and training. Performs other duties of a similar nature, as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 24 mos. experience in office practices and processes; valid Ohio Driver's License.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. Notary Public License preferred.

Working Conditions:
Predictable and regular attendance is required. Travel may be required. Subject to rotating shifts and/or week-end work schedules; exposed to weather (e.g. hot, cold, rain, snow). Exposure to: pet dander, infectious animal bites, injured and diseased animals, animal euthanasia, zoonotic diseases and physical violence. Stooping, crouching, reaching repetitive motion, exerting up to 50+ lbs. of force occasionally to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
