Salary: $42,100 to $72,700

This posting is for an Extension Educator (1, 2, or
3); salary and Educator level for final candidate will be determined by years of experience and education level:

Extension Educator 1

Requires a bachelor’s Degree

Salary Range: $42,100 – $55,000

Extension Educator 2

Requires a master’s Degree

Salary Range: $47,700 – $62,300

Extension Educator 3

Requires a master’s Degree and 11+ years of direct or related work experience

Salary Range: $55,700 – $72,700

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is located in Greene County, Xenia, Ohio.

Work collaboratively with county, center, area, and state teams of Ohio State University Extension (OSUE) professionals and with local agency leaders and volunteers to provide leadership for Agriculture and Natural Resources programming targeted at local and area needs. Utilize appropriate methods, both formal and informal, of community assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities of the local community. Participate in community collaborations focused on local needs.

Design, implement, and teach educational programming, based on these needs, to groups and individuals comprised of adults and/or youth. May be required to replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet the needs of the local community. Responsible for designing new resources to further learning within implemented educational programs. Develop promotional materials, lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain partnerships within the community that support the achievement of the program goals.

Evaluate educational programs and dissemination methods, as well as utilize existing evaluation instruments to evaluate the teaching effectiveness, program quality, and results of local programs. Actively participate in discussions with county representatives concerning program funding and managing the county budget. Hold leadership roles in county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams to further the overall mission, vision, and values of both Ohio State University Extension and Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Engage in professional development activities that lead to the development of a specialty in Agriculture and Natural Resources. Participate in appropriate in-services.

  • Design, implement and teach community-based programs that respond to local agriculture and natural resources needs. Provides overall leadership for assigned programs within the county. Applied research on relevant local issues such as agriculture and natural resources to meet current and future needs of Greene County in home/consumer horticulture, food systems, rural and urban agriculture, innovative agricultural business opportunities, environmental quality and sustainability using innovative educational methods.

    Ensure a diversity among potential clientele and learners and equal access to programs and facilities without regard to age, race, creed, color, handicap, sex, sexual orientation, developmental disability, national origin, marital status, arrest or non-program related conviction record.
  • Work closely with local advisory committees, commodity groups and volunteers to conduct needs assessment and priority setting to determine emphasis of educational programs;
    Serve as an educational advisor and liaison for the Ohio State University Extension and the University to appropriate public issues and program related organizations. Represent OSU Extension and the University with federal, state and local agencies and educational institutions at the local community level.
