Professional Structural Engineer – Structural Design Engineer, PE​/SE

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing all aspects of metal building systems, including structural steel, wall and roof panels, secondary members, and stability bracing.
• Develop safe and economical structures that fulfill project requirements while adhering to industry codes and standards.
• Utilize proprietary software for frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity and performance.
• Work closely with the Detailing Department and other team members to communicate design requirements effectively and ensure seamless project execution.
• Review and check structural drawings for accuracy.
• Embrace opportunities to grow and develop as an engineer, collaborating with various teams throughout Nucor Buildings Group to find innovative solutions.

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited school.
• Proficient verbal and written communication in the English language.
• Strong knowledge of structural building codes: IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE7, AISI, etc.
• Professional Engineer registration in the United States or 3-5 years of structural design experience with an FE registration actively pursuing PE licensure within 1 year of hire.
• A background in Engineering in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry (preferred).
• Structural Engineer registration in the United States (preferred).
• Proficiency with some type of metal building design software package (preferred).
• Leadership experience (preferred).

Demonstrates expertise in structural design and analysis of metal building systems, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. Proficient in utilizing design software and collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
