Position Overview

Monitor the care and well‑being of the men’s housing residents.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure housing residents are receiving the necessary care.
  • Demonstrate patience and tact when dealing with difficult situations and problematic residents.
  • Exchange tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
  • Relay information about residents’ condition to the appropriate staff/department.
  • Report pertinent information to management.
  • When working third shift, perform evening safety checks, lock‑up of facility, and complete the nightly safety check‑off list.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Provide crisis interventions and de‑escalation techniques.
  • Establish and maintain clear boundaries with residents.
  • Enforce the residential rules to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Wash clothes, dishes, and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Transport residents, as needed.
  • Facilitate psychoeducation groups and submit timely documentation (credentialed staff only).
  • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures, including compliance with all behavioral, ethical, and client boundary expectations.
  • Maintain client records according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the organization, Ohio MHAS, and CARF required training.
  • Maintain license or registration appropriate to profession and appropriate to job requirement, including appropriate amount of continuing education at all times of employment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Working Conditions

Knowledge of: Processes for providing customer service and care to residents. Safety rules and procedures, the organization’s policies and procedures, crisis interventions and de‑escalation techniques for individuals who may be frustrated or exalted, and basic math.

Abilities: Multitask and work independently with minimal supervision. Communicate information clearly, read, write, speak, and understand. Make independent decisions when situations warrant. Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities. Drive residents to appointments. Standing, bending, stooping, sitting, walking, reaching above and below shoulder, repetitive use of hands to operate office equipment. Operate basic household appliances. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions: Recovery Dorm/Housing setting. May require weekend, evening, and holiday hours. May be exposed to clients who are potentially angry or violent. Some exposure to cleaning compounds and supplies. General exposure to standard office equipment (computers, monitors, copiers, etc.).

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Demonstrated competencies working with substance abuse and chemically dependent populations.
  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office products, including email.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License, acceptable automobile insurance coverage, and driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) Certification and/or Certified Peer Recovery Supporter, preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with chemically dependent clients in various settings, preferred.
