Responsibilities

The Food Safety Quality Excellence Coordinator develops, executes and revises programming to ensure the control of organizational Standard Operating Procedures, forms, and records. This position participates in overseeing food safety and quality activities within the site and ensures that the organization operates correctly and consistently within current programs and procedures.

Accountabilities
  • Review and maintain paperwork related to quality, food standards and regulatory program compliance (USDA/FDA), including HACCP plan, SQF audit, food defense program, GMP programs, and customer-specific documentation.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies for non-conformance situations, escalate issues to plant leadership as needed, assist in investigations, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Review USDA packets and release USDA product, including completion of internal documentation.
  • Participate in internal facility and corporate audits, external audits (third party, regulatory, or customer) as requested by the QFSE Manager.
  • Conduct or participate in consumer complaint investigations and work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions.
  • Assist in creating and implementing SOPs, SSOPs (Sanitation SOPs), One Point Lessons, work instructions, and maintain storage of procedures, forms, records, and other documents for retrieval.
  • Support QFSE initiatives, participate on teams such as the Food Defense Team, participate in daily sensory panels, and support new employee orientation and QFSE training and onboarding when needed.
  • Perform environmental sampling (swabbing, air, water) as needed; prepare, document, and ship samples; record results and perform root-cause analysis to determine corrective actions.
  • Provide coverage for Quality Technicians and act as backup to the Quality Supervisor or Manager as needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality is maintained.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science (or related field) preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a food manufacturing plant environment
  • Supervisory or managerial experience
  • Experience with and understanding of manufacturing processes, GMPs, food safety, statistics and laboratory techniques
  • Or equivalent combination of education or experience
