The full performance level class works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of maintenance repair in order to perform semi-skilled & skilled maintenance repair work. Performs skilled & semi-skilled maintenance, replacement, minor installation & repair of electrical components of heating & cooling systems, fans, radios. Performs skilled & semi-skilled maintenance, replacement, minor installation & repair of plumbing equipment (e.g., water & steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, pumps, regulators, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks, bathtubs, heating & air conditioning, piping, drinking fountains).
NormalWorking Hours:
Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm. On call rotating basis for emergencies (including weekends and holidays); 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Posted until filled. Operates and performs routine and non-routine skilled trade tasks, preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical and other building systems;
Performs troubleshooting: repairs mechanical, electrical equipment & wiring; responds to and corrects power outages; installs new electrical conduit, wiring and equipment in all applicable areas. Performs daily inspections of boilers, machinery, air handlers, fan coils, generators, refrigeration equipment and other trades related equipment. Maintains, repairs and modifies a variety of systems to include mechanical, gas, steam and hot water, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, and building codes. Responsible for operating equipment such as hand and power tools, forklifts, bobcats, tractors. Maintains building systems including repairing windows, doors, and hardware. Responsible for filling water softeners. Monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, tools, and parts; orders supplies as needed. Obtains cost estimates and price information for specific jobs.
Documents and reports damage and possible problems; coordinates work with contractors and tracks progress of work. Provides technical advice to co-workers in area of specialty such as electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling.
Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and 2+ yrs. experience performing related trades duties and/or repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment); valid Ohio Driver's License.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:Renewal of any mandated training required by facility (e.g., LEADS training to include passing BCI and FBI background check). Candidate must pass a criminal background check which includes BCI, Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) and an FBI background check which will include arrest and conviction history.

Predictable and regular attendance is required.

May be called in; may be exposed to high & low temperatures; may be exposed to weather. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, intense noises, and travel.
Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.
