Job DescriptionThe full performance level class works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of auto mechanics in order to repair & replace major parts or systems on vehicles & equipment. Normal
Working Hours:
Monday - Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm Posted until filled.
Performs preventive maintenance, major/minor repairs and rehabilitation on equipment and vehicles (e.g., cars, vans, dump trucks, pick-up trucks, air compressors, commercial lawn mowing equipment, trailers, snow-plow equipment, hydraulics, off-road vehicles, heavy equipment) to include oil changes tire safety, fluid replacement and/or change, safety inspections, transmission services, inspect and clean filters and gaskets. Performs brake services, tire changes and repair, electrical repair, conducts service calls, engine overhaul and tune-ups.
Inspection of plugs, wiring, distributor caps, PVC valves, air filters, fuel filters, minor and/or major adjustments according to pre-determined schedule. Responsible for maintaining accurate records of repair work performed on all vehicles/equipment. Maintains a professional manner when interacting with both internal and external customers. Complies with workplace health and safety standards: wears required personal protective equipment; promptly report unsafe conditions;
complies with all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws. Operates scanning equipment; ability to update the software and diagnose trouble codes, interpret results, and perform repairs. Installs and repairs emergency equipment for law enforcement vehicles. Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); completion of an approved automotive program and 2+ yrs of experience in automotive repair & maintenance of a variety of vehicles or equipment; valid Ohio Driver's License.

Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Air Conditioning Certificate
* Refrigerant Recovery & Recycling Certification
* * Must obtain within six (6) months of hire and maintain.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Predictable and regular attendance is required. Travel may be required. May be exposed to inclement weather. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, intense noises, and travel. Stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
