BA Degree in accounting, and five years’ experience in a senior-level accounting position. AA degree in accounting and 7 years of experience in a senior-level accounting position with at least 4 years of experience in financial statement preparation and grant accounting. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education/degree.

Position Overview
The Accountant is responsible for coordinating the accounting of expenditures and revenues across all funds and maintaining fund accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This includes monthly, quarterly, and annual balancing of financial data, reviewing accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance, and preparing various financial reports.
Key responsibilities include grant management and billing, generating accurate financial reports, preparing year‑end federal reports and IRS filings, and conducting trend analyses with recommendations for improvements. The Accountant will also provide accounting support to various programs, assist with error corrections, and support the Senior Accountant as needed.
Additional duties include assisting the Senior Accountant and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with financial data collection for annual audits, and providing data or documentation as requested by the CFO.
The role involves processing purchase orders, supply requisitions, accounts payable/receivable, payment vouchers, journal entries, and cost allocations while ensuring adherence to accounting procedures and regulatory requirements. The Accountant is also responsible for maintaining various accounting schedules and spreadsheets, and reviewing all transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with OIC policies and timelines.
This position also manages records retention and destruction in accordance with fiscal policies and is responsible for organizing and storing all fiscal department documents. The Accountant may assist with special projects and cross‑train in other fiscal duties as needed.
Essential Duties- Prepare and issue purchase orders per OIC policy as assigned.
- Process purchase requisitions, including obtaining appropriate approvals, identifying proper account coding; and ensuring compliance with OIC policies and procedures and grant requirements.
- Reconcile monthly vendor and credit card statements to OIC records; work with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Responsible for maintaining and filing accounts payable vouchers.
- Process assigned monthly transactions in timely manner to ensure all expenses are entered into the accounting system prior to monthly billing.
- Prepare monthly billings for various grant programs, as requested.
- Prepare and maintain billing reports, spreadsheets, and files.
- Review billing and accounts receivable transactions for completeness and accuracy while ensuring all transactions are processed in compliance with grant requirements, OIC policy and procedures, and within established timelines.
- Prepare Journal Entries for accounting accruals and enter into the system, expenditure cost allocations, and ensure proper accounting of payable and receivable transactions.
- Monitor and ensure accurate GL accounts and fund balances are maintained.
- Work with OIC program and fiscal staff to answer billing questions, correct errors & ensure proper recording of all transactions.
- Code all documents according to grant regulations, GAAP, and company procedures.
