Dental Hygienists at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic are vital members of the care team, delivering patient‑centered preventative care while practicing at the top of their licensure. In addition to providing high‑quality clinical services and patient education, hygienists collaborate closely with dental providers and clinic leadership to support efficient clinic operations, promote long‑term oral health, and advance YVFWC's mission of improving access to care for underserved communities.

Position Highlights
  • EMR system is EPIC
  • $46.77 - $57.87/hour
  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked
What You'll Do
  • Maintain patient medical records, updating patient medical history and vital signs as needed
  • Conduct complete patient X‑ray procedure including taking, developing and storing the X‑Rays as necessary
  • Prepare tools and equipment necessary for the Provider and assist Provider with the exams as necessary
  • Perform preventative periodontal care on patients including scaling, prophylaxis, root planing, and the application of preventative agents and sealants
  • Perform expanded functions including placing and carving amalgam and composite restorations, application of cavity liners, and placement/removal of temporary crowns
  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia as necessary
  • Provide education and counsel for patients in oral hygiene; formulate dental hygiene treatment plans for patients, consulting the provider as needed
  • Participate in the clinic's infection control program, including sterilization of instruments and cleaning of operatories as needed; provide input to the Dental Leadership team to assist in the development of goals and methods to increase clinic efficiency as needed
  • May participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of dental education programs inside and outside the organization
  • Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program
  • Active Dental Hygiene license for the state of practice
  • WA:
    Active Dental Hygiene License or Limited Dental Hygiene License
  • CPR Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a level 10
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 10 is achieved
  • Knowledge of standard dental practices and current hygiene concepts
  • Knowledge of and skilled in the delivery of dental anesthetic
  • Knowledge of and skilled in placing restorations
  • Ability to effectively assess, adapt and interact with a variety of patients of all ages, and employees in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively manage one's time, schedule, and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently, appropriately, and within required timelines
  • High level of manual dexterity and coordination
  • Basic computer proficiency (Electronic Dental Records, Outlook, Word, Excel)
