Position: Assistant/Associate/Professor-Medicine (0.2 FTE)

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) is hiring a part‑time faculty member (Assistant/Associate/Professor of Internal Medicine) to teach and develop curriculum in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The role reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and focuses on classroom teaching for second‑year medical students in internal medicine courses such as the 6‑week Nervous System course (CLIN 628).

The faculty member will provide office hours, assess student learning, and contribute to curriculum design.

Responsibilities
  • Continuously prepare and teach assigned courses in internal medicine, including the 6‑week Nervous System course (CLIN 628).
  • Provide student advisement and office hours (at least eight hours on campus per week; additional on‑call availability via phone and email when off campus).
  • Develop course syllabus and learning objectives.
  • Administer examinations and review assessment data.
  • Participate in curriculum design, lecture preparation, and testing score review with the co‑course director.
  • Maintain accreditation standards and departmental policies.
  • Perform clinical practice as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education (Required)
    • D.O. or M.D. from an accredited institution.
    • Completion of an internal medicine residency and a nephrology fellowship.
    • Board eligible or board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
    • Current medical license in any U.S. state (Washington preferred).
    • Current DEA certification.
  • Experience (Required)
    • Prior teaching experience in an academic setting.
    • Exceptional scholarly, professional, or individual achievements.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Team‑player who values collaboration and cohesion.
    • Knowledge of instructional technologies and innovative teaching methods (team‑based learning, flipped classroom, problem‑based learning, distance learning, audience response systems, Moodle, exam item writing).

  • Strong organization, interpersonal, communication, presentation and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and adapt to various circumstances.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro‑rated based on hours per week; an 8‑hour/week faculty member will receive a pro‑rated portion of the annual salary ranges for assistant, associate or professor positions.
