INSTRUCTOR

Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology

Full-time, year-round teaching appointment in Quarter Six of the Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology program. Standard schedule:
Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Reports to the Instrumentation, Automation & Robotics Technology Department Head.

Working conditions are classroom and lab environments typical of postsecondary career and technical education. Duties include teaching, lesson planning, and supervising students in simulated labs.

Salary Range: $85,000 – $90,000 per year, with a three percent annual increase subject to budget approval.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.
  • Experience with motor control, drives and valves.
  • Effective communication and interface with business and professional constituents.
  • Computer operation proficiency.
  • Required to drive on behalf of PTI (own vehicle, valid driver’s license, acceptable record, proof of insurance).
  • Consent to drug testing.
  • Proficient in reading, speaking and communicating in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate of completion from an accredited career school or an associate’s degree in the relevant subject area.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Excellent lecture skills.
  • Industry knowledge and skill.
  • Ability to integrate industry scenarios and role playing into instruction.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and engage the business community.
  • Experience with Learning Resource Systems (LRS).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach in a hands‑on lecture and lab environment.
  • Participate in course and program development.
  • Maintain compliance with state and national accrediting agencies.
  • Remain current in industry.
  • Collaborate with other departments to advance institutional goals.
  • Maintain an ongoing professional growth plan.
  • Attend instructor orientation and training.
  • Grade, assess and document student progress and attendance using PTI’s LRS.
  • Provide student advising on progress as per PTI policy.
  • Attend routine department and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in assigned committees (safety, strategic planning, etc.).
  • Conduct program tours and attend PTI “Open House” events.
  • Complete yearly PTI‑issued training sessions.
  • Maintain good attendance and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
