Catholic Charities provides early learning coaching services to licensed childcare providers in eight counties throughout Central Washington. The Early Learning Coach supports continuous quality improvement through technical assistance, professional development, and coaching services. All activities follow service delivery areas and contract requirements. Services are offered across Yakima County, including Yakima, Selah, Ellensburg, Naches, Moxee, Union Gap, Wapato, Toppenish, and Zillah.

Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally relevant and inclusive coaching services to licensed childcare providers by responding to program needs.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for on‑site and/or virtual visits based on program requirements.
  • Assist providers through the Washington State Early Achievers Quality Recognition and Improvement System.
  • Support participants in building capacity in early learning topics, technology use, state professional development navigation, and business practices.
  • Obtain and maintain MERIT State Trainer approval and reliability in relevant tools (FIND, WA‑AIMH, etc.).
  • Manage a caseload of referred providers, helping them reach milestones over time.
  • Participate in trainings or other professional development activities as needed.
  • Document work within five days of activity using required databases.
  • Provide specialized services and trainings, including, when assigned, serving as the primary team trainer.
  • Represent Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington in the community as required.
  • Abide by Washington State law as a mandatory reporter of child abuse and neglect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, or other low‑exertion activities, as well as keyboard use, talking, hearing, and adequate vision up to 90% of the time.

Education
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and two years of related work experience (preferred).
Experience
  • Two years of experience working with young children in a group setting (required).
  • Prior experience providing technical assistance or coaching to childcare providers, on‑site and/or virtually (preferred).
  • State‑approved MERIT/STARS trainer or ability to obtain certification (preferred).
Special Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and self‑motivate; work is primarily off‑site.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by supervisor.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Competence in creating and maintaining timely documentation/data entry in electronic systems.
  • Active listening skills and strong customer service and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

  • Maintain confidentiality according to professional standards.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and agency‑minimum liability insurance.
  • Insurable status as determined by Catholic Charities’ liability insurance provider.
  • Department of Early Learning background check, Washington State Patrol clearance, and fingerprinting when appropriate, plus any vaccination requirements.
Employment Conditions
  • Cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required.
Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm
