The Inclusion Special Education Teacher provides high-quality instruction in their endorsed core content area within an inclusive educational setting while serving as the special education case manager for assigned students. The teacher delivers standards-based instruction to diverse learners, collaborates with general education staff to implement specially designed instruction and accommodations, and ensures students have meaningful access to the general education curriculum.

As the case manager for assigned students, the Inclusion Teacher develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), leads IEP team meetings, monitors student progress toward IEP goals, coordinates services, maintains required documentation, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements. The teacher partners with families, colleagues, and related service providers to support student success in the least restrictive environment.

• Multiple additional endorsement in ELA, Social Studies, and/or Spanish preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Knowledge of inclusionary best practices
• Experience in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Special Education, plus an additional endorsement in a core content area.
  • The additional core content area must include one or more of the following, ELA, Social Studies, or Spanish.
• Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license or evidence of mobility.
• Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later).
• I-9 Employment Eligibility.
• Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.

• Understanding of special education laws and procedures, including IDEA, IEPs, and 504 plans.
• Knowledge of effective instructional practices for students with behavioral, developmental, and learning needs.
• Understanding of behavior supports, including de-escalation strategies, behavior management systems, and re-engagement practices.
• Knowledge of inclusion practices and access to the general education curriculum.
• Deliver differentiated instruction to meet diverse academic and behavioral needs.
• Use data to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with administration, specialists, and support staff.
• Build positive relationships with students, including those with complex needs.
• Remain calm, flexible, and use sound judgment in challenging situations.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
• Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional growth.

• Center instruction on high expectations for student achievement by providing clear learning goals and scales, celebrating success, and understanding student interests and backgrounds.
