The Audio/Visual Production Lead oversees the sound and video for all events in the Capitol and 4 th Street Theatres. This position also acts as a Capitol Theatre Committee (CTC) liaison with touring crews and renters of these facilities. The Audio/Visual Production Lead provides leadership and training for the audio and video technical crew of performances in the Capitol and 4 th Street Theatres.

WORKING

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the CTC Technical Director. This position works closely in collaboration with outside touring crews and renters. This position oversees all CTC audio and video technicians.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION:

The Audio/Visual Production Lead will have operational responsibility for the sound and video systems of both the Capitol and 4 th Street theaters. This position requires a mastery of audio/video techniques to ensure achievement of the desired sound and sound effects, addresses any sound issues, and works directly with performers, crew, and theater staff to align sound with the overall creative direction for the events and shows.

The Production Lead positions are expected to be hands-on leaders in their areas of expertise and model the manner and quality of service CTC expects of all of its staff. These positions are "working heads" and are expected to fill the various roles of stage technicians while accomplishing their other duties. As part of a leadership team, the Production Leads work together to oversee all stage technicians in the facility, not only the ones in their departments.

Production Leads are expected to teach good work habits and basic stage craft alongside training specific stage technicians in the more detailed aspects of their departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead the audio and video technical crew in all aspects of set-up, tear-down, and running of shows in the Capitol and 4 th Street Theatres.
  • Serves as the staff lead for audio control board operation including front of house sound and monitor mixes.
  • Actively makes audio adjustments and maintains safe audio levels, while providing a professional mix during events.
  • Fill in for any vacant technical position in their department with little to no notice.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Technical Director to create and submit show reports to the Technical Director.
  • Maintain and update equipment inventory lists.
  • Assist the Technical Director in maintaining equipment and facilities.
  • Advise the Technical Director on equipment upgrades and improvements.
  • Train new crew members in the practices and policies of their department to at least the minimum CTC standard level.
  • Address clients' questions, complaints, and concerns.
  • Attend department meetings and facility rental meetings as required.
  • Review touring show technical riders and provide equipment rental estimates.
  • Perform under the Working Conditions described below.

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in one of the following fields:
    Audio, Video, or Stage Management.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Regularly work in a "theatre environment" including standing for extended periods and working in low-light situations.
  • Hours will vary depending on the number of events in the season and needs of each event.
  • Frequently work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequently work mandatory overtime.
  • Regularly work under tight time constraints.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to and over 100 pounds.
Schedule

This is a 30 hour per week Full-time, non-exempt position with a flex schedule. This position requires dependable and punctual attendance when scheduled to work. Days and hours of work vary, and a majority of the work hours taking place during the evenings and on weekends. Work schedule is based on the events and rentals schedule of the Capitol and 4 th Street Theatres.
