Assistant Treasurer/Financial Accountant
$34.00 - $44.00/hr
Including, health, vision, dental and prescription insurance, short term disability, life and accidental death and personal loss coverage, vacation and sick leave, 11 paid holidays, PERS retirement and WA ST Deferred Comp and Aflac eligible.

Required Testing:
Oral Interview, Credit and Background Checks
- Review and validate accounting transactions including irrigation assessments and general ledger entries.
- Process water assessments and bank deposits.
- Compile monthly expenditures, budget, and payroll reports for Board meetings and year-end reporting.
- Manage and track local and federal grants ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Monitor and report investments.
- Manage and track capital assets.
- Management and oversight of the general ledger and operating budget.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoices and monthly journal entries.
- Oversight of bi-monthly payroll.
- Process payroll-related payments and reports.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports; issue W-2’s and 1099’s.
- Assist in annual budget preparation with the District Manager/Treasurer.
- Facilitate the external audit between the district and WA State Auditor’s Office.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
- Provide backup support to the Administrative Assistant for water payment processing and related tasks.
This position will perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsExperience & Training: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or education in Accounting, Finance or related field and five years of professional level accounting experience.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
5+ years’ experience
Preferred: Experience in government-related accounting
Experience with external audits
Technical expertise in Microsoft Office and accounting ERP systems
Software implementation
Experience with Quick Books and
Knowledge: GAAP, governmental and fund accounting, and financial principles; ability to interpret laws, regulations, and policies; skilled in financial analysis, report preparation, and attention to detail; excellent interpersonal communication skills; and proficiency with computers, accounting software, and standard office equipment.
Skill In: interpreting policies, procedures, laws and regulations; tracking fixed assets; tracking various contracts and agreements; tracking investments and cash flow and analyzing financial information; preparing sound financial recommendations; attention to detail and accuracy.
Equipment Used: computers and various related software applications, standard office equipment such as computers, multi-line telephone, copiers, calculators and fax machines.

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Office-based work during standard business times.
Physical Demands: requires driving, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, mobility, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
