Community Corrections Officer 2 (also referred to as Community Corrections Officer
1) – Community Corrections Division, Parkland, WA.
This full‑time, non‑permanent appointment is expected to last approximately six months and is located in the Pierce County Gang Unit at 13021 Pacific Avenue South, Parkland, WA 98444.
Salary ranges:
- CCO1: $4,880.00 to $6,563.00 per month (starting at Step G, $5,659.00/month).
- CCO2: $5,948.00 to $7,994.00 per month.
Shift: 0800–1700 Monday–Friday.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and hold accountable supervised individuals (S/Is) under Washington state law, interstate compact rules, and agency policy.
- Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests as needed.
- Complete intake, assess risk, needs, and substance use; administer assessments.
- Manage electronic and hard‑copy files and reports.
- Engage S/Is using motivational interviewing and effective intervention principles to support positive change and safe community reentry.
- Present accurate documentation and evidence for court or hearing proceedings; make sanction recommendations.
- Collect, document, process, and maintain evidence ensuring chain of custody.
- Follow department firearms policies, including maintaining qualifications and handling safety equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to carry and properly utilize a department‑issued firearm.
- Unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in Washington.
- Willingness to work with individuals having criminal backgrounds; ability to remain objective.
- Demonstrated college‑level coursework or experience in three or more of the following areas: written communication, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, conflict resolution, situational awareness, problem solving, organizational skill, independent work, flexibility.
- Required education and experience combinations (e.g., high‑school diploma plus four years of qualifying experience; associate degree plus two years; bachelor’s degree; or equivalent totaling four years).
- Ability to carry and properly utilize a department‑issued firearm.
- Unrestricted vehicle operator's license valid in Washington.
- Willingness to work with individuals having criminal backgrounds; ability to remain objective.
- Three or more areas of demonstrated college‑level coursework or professional experience: field visits, written correspondence, case assessment, referrals, court presentation, risk assessment, treatment plans, resource referral, record maintenance, case management, data entry, caseload management, community resource identification, clear communication, independent work.
- Required education and experience combinations: one year experience as a CCO within the DOC; associate degree plus three years of professional experience; bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience; or equivalent totaling five years.
- Complete a felony disclosure form and submit to a criminal background check.
- Pass psychological screening, including a battery exam and psychological interview.
- Submit to drug testing as per agency policy.
- Complete orientation and all mandatory training within specified time frames.
- Become familiar with and comply with all department policies and collective bargaining agreements.
- Complete mandatory firearms academy and control‑impedance tactics training, including maintaining eligibility and qualifications.
- Retirement plan under the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) or Public Safety Employees' Retirement System (PSERS).
- Paid vacation days ranging from fourteen to twenty‑five per year based on years of service.
