Summary

The Site Lead / Formal Training Unit (FTU) Manager is responsible for overseeing all academic and simulator training activities at the assigned training site. This role provides leadership and direction for contract instructors, support personnel, and operations staff involved in maintaining and operating Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs) and delivering aircrew instruction. The Site Lead serves as the principal liaison between CAE and the customer’s Program Office, ensuring contract compliance, operational effectiveness, training throughput, and a safe and secure working environment.

The position also coordinates scheduling, manages quality assurance programs, supports configuration requirements, and represents the company in day-to-day base and community interactions.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all on-site academic and simulator training operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate instructors and support personnel responsible for maintaining ATDs and conducting aircrew training.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the government Program Office/Quality Assurance Representative (PO/QAR) and the CAE Program Manager.
  • Serve as the site-level contract representative and key point of contact for the USAF customer.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with contract requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers and support strong communication channels.
  • Ensure timely submission of monthly device utilization reports and other required reporting.
  • Establish and uphold appropriate safety and security standards for all training and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in and plan conferences, meetings, and discussions with USAF customers.
  • Ensure training throughput aligns with fiscal year contractual requirements.
  • Manage yearly, monthly, and weekly training schedules for academic and simulator training.
  • Provide oversight for personnel training programs and ensure the availability of necessary resources.
  • Observe and evaluate instructor performance in both classroom and simulator environments.
  • Manage the site’s quality assurance program to ensure compliance with AS9100D standards.
  • Submit required data monthly to meet CDRL documentation requirements.
  • Attend scheduled weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings with CAE and customer stakeholders.
  • Represent CAE in local base communities through professional engagement, community activities, and coordination efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Training System Support Center (TSSC) Manager regarding facilities and support requirements.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four years of previous flight operations and/or flight training management experience.
  • Minimum of eight years total flying experience, including five years of military experience.
  • At least two years of flight instructor and training management experience.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree preferred.
