Yakima, WA, US
Shift: Sun–Tue: 12:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.;
Wed: 12:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m.
We are currently filling one position as a CO2 Instrument Technician or a CO2 Operator, depending on qualifications and experience.
Position SummarySafely and efficiently run the high‑pressure CO₂ Extraction Plant. Identify process problems, make necessary repairs and adjustments, and assist in training new employees.
Primary Responsibilities- Load/unload extractors (operate bridge crane and forklift, open/close extractor closures, load super bags, maintain spent hop conveying system, clean extractor heads, prepare samples for lab, transport super bags).
- Operate the plant using automated and manual sequences, startup/shutdown, assist with hot CO₂ flush and caustic wash, respond to all alarms, and scan process screens for situational awareness.
- Perform daily/weekly maintenance, checklist duties, and troubleshooting/repair of mechanical/electrical/instrumentation systems.
- Understand and maintain control valves, sensors, transmitters, PLCs, PID controllers, pumps, heat exchangers, refrigeration, compressed air, and CO₂ systems.
- Implement 5S procedures (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) and operate vacuum/dust‑collection equipment.
- Handle chemicals (clean extracts with methanol, handle caustic, practice safe handling, use PPE, monitor CO₂ levels, respond to leaks, follow LOTO, welding, height work, vessel entry, SDS).
- Use D365 ERP to scan and receive items, manage inventory, and enter production information.
- Lead by positive communication, coordinate with supervisor and crew, encourage Kaizen log usage, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including a successful pre‑employment drug test.
- Work a 42‑hour week with the ability to work twelve‑hour shifts, cover additional shifts, and work overtime.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk on high‑elevation catwalks, and lift 75 pounds (with or without assistance).
- Must not have a sensitivity to hop allergies, be clean‑shaven for Scott Air‑Pak, and have adequate hearing and vision.
- Must complete one month of comprehensive in‑house training and become forklift certified.
- Must comply with the Integrated Management System and be trained on quality, environmental, and food safety procedures.
Required:
- Instrument Technician certification.
- Aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical skills.
- Ability to safely operate, troubleshoot, and repair high‑pressure equipment.
- First Aid/CPR trained.
Preferred:
- Previous experience operating an automated plant.
- Knowledge of electricity, control theory, hydraulics, and operating automated controls.
- First Aid/CPR trained.
